Your drawer - taking the measure

How to get a perfectly fitting cutlery insert

If you know the kitchen manufacturer's and your kitchen's series names, look at our online shop category kitchen brands and find a choice of fitting cutlery inserts easily.

Otherwise just take the measurements of your drawer and order a customized insert. Refer to the picture to learn which measurements have to be taken to provide the basis for a perfectly fitting cutlery insert.

Width

Determine the width at the ground level of your drawer and additionally at a height of 54 millimeters. If the results are equal, the sides of your drawer run vertically straight. This is called a straight frame (frame type #1). If, however, the two measurements reveal a difference of more than 8 millimeters, your drawer presents a slanted frame (frame type #2). If you are not sure how to classify your drawer / frame type, please refer to our manual of frame types.

Notwithstanding the respective frame type, we recommend subtracting a tolerance of 2 millimeters from the width at a height of 54 millimeters to get the width of the insert.

A practical hint: Put a ruler on an object having a height of 54 millimeters (cf. the picture). Take a second ruler diametrically opposed and take the measure of the remaining distance. Add up the results.

Depth

Take the measure of the depth of the drawer and subtract a tolerance of two millimeters here as well.

If the measurements at the bottom of the drawer differ by more than two millimeters from those at its top edge, please send us an e-mail with a picture of your drawer attached. We will submit a customized offer.

Height

The height of our standard inserts measures 54 millimeters.

If your insert needs to come with differing height, we can realize it. Please read our information about heights of our products.

Compartment subdivisions / thickness of the bars

The sizes of the compartments vary according to the overall dimensions of the insert. We account for the standard dimensions of common cutlery and adapt the subdivisions' sizes accordingly. We use 9mm bars throughout our CLASSIC program. Get more information about divisions and thickness of the bars.
